Brian Martel

I am an amateur photographer. I focus most of my attention on taking pictures of birds though I will take shots of anything that captures my attention or intrigues me. I am inspired by trying to capture the perfect shot. I know it to be an elusive goal given that there are billons of pictures taken every year. Still, I try. The process of photography for me is Zen like. I frequent the same locations of many other photographers, but I prefer to be on my own. This comes naturally to me. When I was as a boy, I was happy fishing for pike on the Richelieu River in Quebec all by myself for hours on end. Like fishing, I have come to learn that the patience in taking pictures of birds is very similar to the patience needed to be a successful fisherman. Birds are beautiful creatures and there is real joy for me in capturing their moments.
